Charley Renney


Charley obtained a first class MSci Chemistry degree from the University of Bristol, where he undertook his final year project with Professor Russell Cox on the synthesis of novel antibiotic inhibitors. During his degree program Charley carried out a placement at GlaxoSmithKline, working within the medicinal chemistry department.
Charley was recently selected as one of 10 UK students to be awarded a bursary by the Japanese Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) to conduct a research placement at Osaka University, Japan, within the group of Professor Inoue.
Charley is currently working on the development of new carbohydrate receptors; a project for which he achieved industrial backing from Novartis.
