Dr. Ishfaq Ahmad Rather obtained his Ph.D. in 2023 from Jamia Millia Islamia (a Central University), New Delhi, India under the supervision of Dr. Rashid Ali, where his research work was focussed on Synthetic Organic and Supramolecular chemistry in general and design, synthesis and applications of functionalized Calix[4]pyrroles in particular. Then he went to the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Thiruvananthapuram (IISER TVM), Kerala, India as a Research Scientific Staff and worked on Umpolung Chemistry in Prof. J.N. Moorthy’s research group. After that, he joined as an Institute Postdoctoral Fellow (IPDF) in the Department of Chemistry, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India, and worked on Fluorescence Spectroscopy in Prof. Pratik Sen’s research group. With a subsequent UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) funded Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA) offer from the University of Bristol, Bristol, UK along with a Global Talent Visa (GTV) from UK government in 2024, he joined the research group of Prof. Anthony P Davis in the School of Chemistry (Inorganic and Materials Chemistry) where he is currently working on Biomimetic Carbohydrate Recognition in general and Towards Glucose-responsive Switches with tailored properties in particular. In India, he has been awarded Junior research fellowship (CSIR-JRF and UGC-JRF), Senior research fellowship (CSIR-SRF), Research Associate (CSIR-RA), and National Postdoctoral Fellowship (SERB-NPDF). Besides studying chemistry and doing science research, he likes to read books and watch cricket..
