Al Flint

Al graduated from University College London in autumn 2019, joining the Davis researcher group soon after. During his final year at UCL he designed and synthesised a series of novel small-molecule Notum carboxylesterase inhibitors to potentiate Wingless signalling as the theme of a master’s research project at the Alzheimer’s Research UK Drug Discovery Institute under the supervision of Dr. Hannah Woodward. At present, his research focuses on the designing and synthesis of supramolecular ‘receptors’ capable of stereoselectively binding amino acids in aqueous biologically relevant settings, in collaboration with other members of the Davis group.

Outside of chemistry Al is a keen musician. A regular at the UCL jazz society jams during his undergrad, he picked up a taste for funk and soul and continues to play guitar on the local music circuit in Bristol..
